Product Description
The PoE-Powered USB-C Dock for iPad connects a USB-C iPad to ethernet and uses power over ethernet (PoE+) to charge the iPad. This enables an iPad to receive both data and power over a single Ethernet cable when connected to a PoE+ enabled switch or a PoE+ injector.
The Dock also provides a SuperSpeed USB-C port which can be used to connect one or more USB devices to the iPad. All USB devices that are natively supported by iOS are compatible with the dock.
Use cases for the USB-C port include:
- Connect an SSD drive to an iPhone Pro Max in order to record ProRes video
- Connect an NFC Reader for contactless payments, access control, or inventory management systems
- Connect a bar code scanner, mag stripe reader, scale and/or printer for use in a point of sale system
In each of these cases a single PoE connection is used to power the entire configuration.
When connected to an iPad the Dock is instantly recognised as a network connection. The ethernet connection can be configured using the Settings app on the iPad.
The Dock physically connects to the iPad using a USB-C to USB-C cable (sold separately). It supports 10/100/1000 networking and provides bandwidth up to 900Mbps.
